I'm exploring Canyon’s eBike range, and honestly, it surprised me how different their models are, depending on the type of riding you do. A lot of people instantly think of the for trails, but Canyon also has models like the Roadlite: ON and Grand Canyon: ON, and the choice really comes down to how you plan to ride.
For trail and mountain riders, tis strong, with prices ranging from $4,999 to $6,999, depending on the version, and featuring carbon frames, powerful motors, and long-travel suspension. It’s heavy, but it eats climbs and descents for breakfast.
If you’re more of a city rider or commuter, th ON is a very different machine. Prices start closer to $2,000–$2,500, much lighter and simpler, and it looks more like a fitness bike with a motor boost. It’s the one you’d actually enjoy taking on daily errands or fitness rides without feeling like you’re dragging around a mountain bike.
Then there’s the Grand which sits in between. It’s a hardtail eMTB, usually priced around $3,000–$3,500, and probably the most versatile if you want one bike for mixed riding trails, gravel, and even some city use.
From what I’ve seen, the main mistake people make is buying too much bike for their needs. If you’re mostly commuting or doing short weekend rides, dropping $5k+ on the won’t give you more value than a lighter, cheaper Canyon model. But if you’re really into trail riding, the difference in suspension and handling is night and day.
So I’d say the smart move is to first be honest about your riding style: city, mixed, or trail, and then pick the Canyon that matches. The pricing gap between $2,000 and $7,000 is big, but it actually lines up well with the kind of performance you’ll get.
